A few years ago I took a Geology course at North Lake College and we made an overnight (camping out) field trip to the Arbuckle Mountains in Southern Oklahoma. Way back in the day (like millions of years ago) , the Arbuckles were part of a great mountain chain that extended from the Rockys to the Smokies, and although millions of years of errosion have reduced them to not much more than hills, they are still quite enchanting and offer a window to the past with unique formations, and layers . On a trip back to Dallas from Tulsa, I couldn't resist stopping by this scenic overlook and snapping a few pictures. |
